ABOUT JORDI HEREU BOHER
Mayor of Barcelona through the period 2006-2011, Jordi Hereu is nowadays President and partner of IdenCity, a company specialized in the development of city strategies and city solutions.
Among other titles, Jordi Hereu is External Advisor of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for its Emerging Sustainable Cities Initiative and Advisor of the Towards the Human City Initiative.
Bonding of Jordi Hereu with the City Hall of Barcelona starts in 1997, when he was appointed District Manager of les Corts. Two years later, after the municipal elections of 1999, he served as Councilman of the same District. In 2003 he was elected Councilman of Sant Andreu district, in addition to being President of the Commission on security and mobility. Already in the year 2006 Jordi exercised as speaker for the municipal government, as fifth Deputy Mayor, as Councilman of mobility, citizen participation, solidarity and cooperation, and as President of the Council of the District of Gracia.
In September 2006 he was elected Mayor of Barcelona and President of the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, positions that he held until the year 2011. During his management, he served as President of the General Council of the Barcelona Metropolitan Strategic Plan - Vision 2020.
In his beginnings, as part of his participation in the private sector, Jordi Hereu was Marketing Manager of the company Port 2000. Since 1992 to 1997 he was Marketing Director for the Company Intermodal Logistics Centre, SA (CILSA) and promoter of Logistics Activities Area of Barcelona’s port facilities.
At the academic level, Jordi Hereu has a degree and a Master in Business Administration and Management from ESADE Business School.
